It’s been a challenging few years, with several loses including my parents and my dog passing, ending a relationship, and several other life events happening.
I can’t say these things hit me hard, but I wasn’t in the best of mood emotionally, I needed a change in scenery.
I had always been looking forward to visiting my siblings in England who been there for over twenty years. We finally came together and planned a spontaneous trip which turned out to be awesome.
I immediately applied for the new Implemented Visa which cost almost $2500 TTD for six months, the process wasn’t too bad, and in two weeks’ time I had my passport returned with my visa. The next month I was on a plane heading to Gatwick Airport London.
It was the end of September, the place was now starting to get cold, but it was manageable, the mornings and evening were cold, but the day was warm enough for short pants and t-shirt.
From the airport to where we stayed was a few hours’ drive, so we got to see a little bit on the way, stop at one point to stretch our legs and get some food.
The cars there were same as Trinidad right hand drive, mostly manual and they drive on the same side of the road.
The three weeks’ vacation started of one time dropping off our language and heading out for an evening stroll.
We had a packed schedule with events everyday some days multiple. In the process we visited three countries, and nine cities.
We did two amazing hikes in peak district, with some awesome views.
I rode a train for the first time and then multiple time also experiencing some new cultures and food.
Transportation was simple to use, except for Paris we were able to just use our credit card to get on public transportation, navigation was a different story, but google maps help with that.
The ease at which we got from England to Europe was really and eye opener. You can take the Eurostar and get across to several counties in Europe. This time we visited France and the Netherlands.

We did some shopping in Birmingham as well but didn’t explore much.
The highlights for me on this trip was the hikes and getting to see some of the historical places, like the London and Tower bridges and the Prime Meridian.
Not to mention the light display at the Eiffel tower and the visit to the Sacre-Coeur where I got to light candle for my late parents.
But most of all getting to spend time and experience some adventures with my sibling while making some memories.
England was fun I need to go back when it is warmer so I can do lake district, possible Scotland and maybe some other countries in Europe.
