On my trip to England, I stayed in the out skirts of Leicester, approximately a thirty-minute walk to the Leicester City Center.
It was more the quitter side of the city, except for when they were football games, as we weren’t far from the King Power Stadium, which is the home Leicester City F.C.
Given the opportunity I would go for walks to explore the city and the outskirts. I would walk outside and cross the road and head to what they call the Canal.
The Canal runs from the outskirt as far passed Fosse Park to the south which is a mall straight into the city center heading north.
It passes several parks and you would see house boats situated on the canal.
We were also fortunate to run into some horses, ducks and swans on the canal. There was also a nice little diner by the name of King’s Lock Tearoom, where I celebrated my birthday with an English breakfast.
From where we were we walked north to head into the city, and which takes you passed the Leicester City F.C. Stadium, and you go walk and exit the canal into the De Montfort University.
In the city they were plenty of history to see, we visited the Leicester Cathedral, visited some parks of historical nature.
We visited a few malls but unfortunately the season had already changed awhile back so not many deals, more winter attire on sale.
Which lead us to focus on the taste buds, of course we had to try Nando’s, but I for one prefer Trini BBQ. Off course you know we should tray the national dish, which was fish and chip, which didn’t impress me either.
However, there was a place in the City Center close to The Clock Tower named Awesome Chips, I think you must try that if ever in Leicester.
Leicester was not as exciting as other places we visited but, it reminded me of home, more countryside look and feel. A lot of trails and paths for running, walking and riding.
As a Trini I was amazed by the public transportation system, the buses are on time every 5 minutes, although most of the residents choose to walk or cycle to get around.
However, I walked all over the place like I usually do and got to see the place firsthand.
