Saint Lucia is a mountainous island nation in the eastern Caribbean Sea, located south of Martinique and northeast of Saint Vincent. Known for its iconic volcanic spires the Gros Piton, Petit Pitons and for popular Sulphur Springs.

With a small population of around 175000, its economy is based on tourism and agriculture and main language is English whereas the natives speak Creole due to its historical French influence.

I have had my heart set on visiting St Lucia since 2018, but due to obstacles wasn’t able to until 2026 and my trip was amazing to say the less. My plan was to attempt the three-hill challenge, which included the Pitons and Mt Jimmy, but due to cost I settled for the two pitons.

Thanks to the airline we used we ended up with two extra days on the island. Also luckily, we were accommodated by a friend, so the rental money went into exploring and we made the most of it.

Gros Islet

We stayed in Gros Islet close to Rodney Bay and Gros Islet Beach, we use the day one to get familiar with the area. Walked around went to Gros Islet Beach located some bars, and food places, did some grocery shopping and had lunch by a nice little dinner named Auntie Ju’s. Later that night our host got one of his friends to take us out for drinks and sushi and ended up in Eden bar and Restaurant.

 

St Lucia Distillers Rum Tour

Day two we went for road trip with our host as he works on the road, so he took us along, we got to see some sites, as far as Castries. The highlight for that day was the rum tour at the St Lucia Distillers, we learn how they made their different rum, about carnival and even got to taste a lineup of all the alcohol they produce. In the night our host took us for Lambee up on the hills in one of the rural area, to a backyard bar and grill, and it was a pretty cool vibes, remind me or Paramin Trinidad.

Hiking the Pitons

Day three was my day, and I probably shouldn’t have done a rum tour the day before because of what came next. We start early that morning, with an hour and half drive to Soufriere to meet my guide. At this point we drop my friend by a beach and climbed the Petit Pitons then the Gros Piton, stale drunk and car sick. Then we went for a soak in the Sulphur Spring. My friend even bout me a “I concurred the Gros Piton”  Jersey for my impressive climb.

I completed the two pitons in a collective of five hours thirty minutes, which seemed to be impressive to some, one young lady even asked me if I was mental. I think my guide as well was shocked at the time because he didn’t even make up to the first one before I met him on my way back halfway down.

Pigeon Island

Day four we spent exploring Pigeon Island, we were lucky enough to meet the landlord and she drop us to Si-SI Zebe a restaurant and bar they own on Pigeon island beach, here we had lunch and then we went to take the tour of the island which was a hike by itself. On the Island you have and nice sheltered beach, Fort Rodney the Carib Caves, so old ruins of some historical building and the best part was the views from Signal Peak. Just so you know they day didn’t end there because on a Friday Gos islet has a big street party. The ultimate way to experience the Lucian culture and food, and I had a time.

Day Five Pebble Beach

By Day five I was tired but started with a walk to Rodney Bay where we had an English Breakfast at Elena’s Italian Restaurant. After which my friend and I went different direction, she went to the beach and I went home to take a nap. Nap nothing, because I got a call about an hour later, and was back out this time went to do a hike to Pebble Beach.

ATV Tour

Day six starting around lunch time with an ATV Tour by ATV Xperience St Lucia, as someone who used to ride motorcycles this was absolute fun. The guide gave us a little crash course, in the yard then we took to the road. The tour took us to an off-road circuit where we got to really experience the ATVs on the trails, then on to a private estate I believe is on Gilly Point where we got to see some folks wind surfing.

The views on the hill side were amazing, and we got to also view a private art gallery where my friend purchased a painting. After which we ended the day watching football and having dinner on Rodney Bay at Buvon and a little booty shaking at Eden.

 

Beach Day

Day seven was a little less adventurous, after a proper rest we walked from the apartment to pigeon island, but this time we just stayed by the beach on the outside and had some drinks by Sealife Paradise, by know my friend is calling me Piton King, because that is all I was drinking. This beach was just perfect for relaxing; we go some beach chairs and just took in the sun and had a swim in the crystal-clear waters.

Snorkling across the Island

Day eight is the day I got all my sun burns, so in previous day we meet up with a boat guide with Lucian Adventures and he offered to take us on a snorkeling tour. He took us to a few places down the western side of the island. We got the chance to snorkel on Marigot bay, which was an experience by itself, we also did Cinderella’s Slipper, from what I hear is where part of Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed. After which we walked back to the apartment then we had lunch at Auntie Ju’s.

Saying Goodbye

It was time to head back home, and finally on the way to the airport we found the St Lucia sign, and for a last pump we went to Castries City View Point, for one last view of St Lucia. Then we said good bye to our host and waiting for our ride back home.

St Lucia was awesome, we did a lot in eight days and we loved every moment of it. Well seriously consider revisiting as there is a lot more to see.
